SMS Opt-In
This page documents exactly how users opt in to SMS messages from Rumi. It is intended for users, carrier reviewers, and messaging providers. Last updated: April 18, 2026.
Brand and Program
- Brand: Rumi
- Company: Rumi, Inc. (Delaware, USA)
- Website: www.rumi.team
- Support: support@rumi.team
- Program: Rumi AI Coaching — session reminders, coaching check-ins, and two-factor authentication (2FA).
Where Users Opt In
Users opt in to SMS at two distinct moments in their journey with Rumi, both of which require an explicit, unchecked-by-default action:
1. Account signup (Phone sign-in path)
On the signup screen at rumi.team/welcome, before a user can use phone-number sign-in, they must check an SMS consent box (unchecked by default). The consent text is shown verbatim below. Users can also sign in with Google, Apple, or email without checking the SMS box — consent is not a condition of using Rumi.
2. Channel preferences (optional, after signup)
Once signed in, users can choose how they want to receive coaching reminders under Settings → Notification channels. SMS is one option among iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, and Email. No channel is selected by default. Users can change or disable any channel at any time.
Consent Language (verbatim)
The exact consent sentence shown next to the checkbox on the signup screen is:
“I consent to receive SMS messages from Rumi (reminders, check-ins, 2FA). Up to 10 msgs/week. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. Consent is not a condition of using Rumi.”
The checkbox is unchecked by default. The phone sign-in button is disabled until the user explicitly checks it. No phone number is ever sent a message before this affirmative opt-in.
Messages You Will Receive
- Session reminders — notifications about upcoming or recommended coaching sessions.
- Coaching check-ins — follow-up prompts related to assignments you set during a session.
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) codes — sent only when you sign in or perform a security-sensitive action.
- Customer care replies — if you text our number, we reply to help you.
Rumi does not send promotional, marketing, or third-party messages. Phone numbers are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing.
