Terms of Use
Last updated: August 11, 2026
Welcome to Rumi. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Rumi, Inc. (“Rumi,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Please read them carefully before using the Platform.
1. Acceptance of These Terms; License
Rumi, Inc. operates the website at www.rumi.team, the Rumi web and mobile applications, Rumi’s text and voice coaching features, and the Rumi coach dashboard (together, the “Platform”). The Platform provides AI-powered personal development coaching and related services (the “Services”).
By clicking “Agree and continue,” checking a box presented with these Terms, or by accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. When you accept these Terms, we record the date, time, and version of the Terms you accepted.
Subject to these Terms, Rumi grants you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-transferable license to use the Platform for your personal, non-commercial use — or, if you are a coach, for your internal business use of the coach dashboard.
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above tells you when the current version took effect. If we make material changes, we may ask you to accept the revised Terms again before continuing to use the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after revised Terms take effect means you accept them.
2. Rumi Is Coaching — Not Therapy, Medical Care, or Professional Advice
RUMI IS AN AI-POWERED COACHING TOOL FOR PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND SELF-REFLECTION. RUMI IS NOT A LICENSED THERAPIST, COUNSELOR, PSYCHOLOGIST, PSYCHIATRIST, PHYSICIAN, OR OTHER HEALTHCARE PROVIDER. THE PLATFORM DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL OR MENTAL HEALTH ADVICE, COUNSELING, THERAPY, DIAGNOSIS, OR TREATMENT OF ANY KIND, AND IT DOES NOT DIAGNOSE, TREAT, MITIGATE, CURE, OR PREVENT ANY DISEASE OR CONDITION. RUMI IS NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE.
THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE BEHIND THE SERVICES IS NOT A HUMAN BEING. IT IS NOT CAPABLE OF THE PROFESSIONAL JUDGMENT OF A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL, AND NOTHING IT SAYS IS MEDICAL, LEGAL, FINANCIAL, OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.
Never disregard, avoid, or delay seeking advice from a qualified professional because of something you read or heard on the Platform. Your use of the Platform does not create a physician–patient, therapist–client, fiduciary, or any other professional or confidential relationship between you and Rumi.
3. Not for Emergencies
THE PLATFORM IS NOT A CRISIS INTERVENTION TOOL AND IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES. IT IS NOT DESIGNED TO DETECT OR RESPOND TO EMERGENCIES.
If you are in crisis, are considering harming yourself or others, or believe you may have a medical emergency, stop using the Platform and get help immediately: call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line), call 911, or contact your local emergency services.
4. Who May Use Rumi
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Platform. The Platform is operated from the United States and is not directed to anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will delete it and close the associated account; if you believe someone under 18 has provided us personal information, contact us at support@rumi.team.
5. Human Coaches and the Coach Program
Rumi may connect you with an independent human coach, or a coach you already work with may invite you to use Rumi with them. Coaches are independent providers. They are not employees or agents of Rumi, and Rumi does not supervise, direct, or control the coaching they provide. Rumi does not guarantee any outcome from working with a coach.
What your coach can see is described in our Privacy Policy. In short: AI-session summaries are shared with your coach only with your consent, and sessions you hold directly with your coach — including recordings of those sessions — are available to you and to that coach.
If you use the coach dashboard as a coach, the following also apply:
- Coach dashboard access requires an active Rumi membership.
- Program features — including client invitations, revenue sharing, and payouts — are governed by the then-current program terms presented in your dashboard, which are part of these Terms.
- You are an independent contractor, not an employee, agent, or partner of Rumi, and you are responsible for your own taxes.
- You are responsible for having all rights and consents needed for any client information you provide to the Platform.
- Rumi may modify, suspend, or discontinue program features, and may withhold or reverse payouts obtained through fraud, abuse, or breach of these Terms.
6. Subscriptions, Billing, and Auto-Renewal
Access to the Rumi app requires a paid subscription. Prices and billing periods are shown at checkout, and payments are processed by Stripe. By starting a subscription you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method the subscription fee, plus any applicable taxes, on a recurring basis.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then.
If your subscription starts with a free trial or a promotional price, it converts to a regular paid subscription at the end of the trial or promotional period unless you cancel before that period ends.
If we change the price of your subscription, we will give you advance notice, and the new price will apply from your next renewal.
7. Payments Are Non-Refundable
EXCEPT WHERE REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW OR EXPRESSLY STATED OTHERWISE IN THESE TERMS, ALL PAYMENTS ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS FOR PARTIAL BILLING PERIODS, UNUSED TIME, OR PERIODS WHEN YOUR ACCOUNT WAS OPEN BUT YOU DID NOT USE THE PLATFORM. CANCELLATION STOPS FUTURE CHARGES BUT DOES NOT ENTITLE YOU TO A REFUND OF FEES ALREADY PAID.
Rumi may, in its sole discretion, issue a refund or credit in exceptional circumstances. Doing so in one case does not obligate us to do so in another.
If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at support@rumi.team within thirty (30) days of the charge and we will work with you in good faith to resolve it. Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank or card issuer.
8. Your Content
The Platform lets you share information with Rumi — for example, what you say in coaching conversations, survey answers, notes, and other material (your “Content”). You own your Content. You grant Rumi a license to host, store, process, and use your Content as needed to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Services, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for your Content. You represent that you have the rights necessary to share it and that it does not violate the law or anyone else’s rights. If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback about the Platform, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you.
9. AI-Generated Content
The Services generate responses using artificial intelligence. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise flawed, and it may not be appropriate for your situation. Use your own judgment before relying on it, and do not treat it as a substitute for professional advice (see Section 2). Rumi does not guarantee any particular outcome from using the Services.
10. Acceptable Use
You agree that you will not:
- use the Platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- harass, abuse, threaten, defame, or harm others, or use the Platform to violate anyone’s rights, including privacy rights;
- share content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to share;
- upload viruses, malware, or other harmful code, or attempt to bypass or probe the Platform’s security;
- access the Platform by automated means (bots, scrapers, crawlers), or copy, scrape, or harvest content or data from the Platform;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, models, or underlying components of the Platform, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Platform or its content outside the uses these Terms permit;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
- place unreasonable load on the Platform’s infrastructure or interfere with anyone else’s use of it; or
- use the Platform to build or train a competing product or service.
Rumi may investigate violations and decide, in its sole discretion, what conduct violates this section.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy at www.rumi.team/privacy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It is the definitive description of our data practices and is incorporated into these Terms.
12. SMS Messaging
If you provide your phone number and opt in to SMS, you agree to receive text messages from Rumi, including account notifications (such as session reminders and coaching check-ins), two-factor authentication codes, and customer care responses. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and reply HELP for assistance. Consent to receive SMS is not a condition of using Rumi. See our SMS Messaging Terms at www.rumi.team/sms-terms for complete details.
13. Intellectual Property
The Platform and the Services — including software, models, designs, text, graphics, logos, and other content provided by Rumi (excluding your Content) — are owned by Rumi or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license in Section 1, no rights are granted to you. The Rumi name and logo are trademarks of Rumi, Inc.; you may not use them without our prior written permission. You may not remove or alter any proprietary notices on the Platform.
14. Third-Party Services
The Platform works with third-party services — for example, Stripe for payments, and Zoom and Google Calendar for coach scheduling and sessions. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that service’s own terms and privacy policy, and Rumi is not responsible for third-party services. The Platform may also contain links to third-party websites; we provide them for convenience and do not endorse or control them.
15. Modifications to the Platform
Rumi may add, change, or remove features, or suspend or discontinue the Platform or any part of it, at any time. Where a change materially reduces a paid feature, your remedy is to cancel under Section 6. Rumi is not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Platform.
16. Suspension and Termination
Rumi may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, created risk or possible legal exposure for Rumi or others, or where required by law. You may stop using the Platform and cancel your subscription at any time.
On termination, your license to use the Platform ends. Fees already paid are not refunded except as described in Section 7. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 7, 8, 13, and 17 through 22 — survive.
17. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE PLATFORM AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. RUMI DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
18. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RUMI AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT RUMI HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RUMI’S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE PLATFORM OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO RUMI IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100) IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID RUMI IN THAT PERIOD. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
19. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Rumi and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, suppliers, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or relating to your Content, your use of the Platform, or your violation of these Terms, applicable law, or the rights of any third party.
20. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and Rumi agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County, California for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there. Any claim must be brought within one (1) year after it arises, or it is permanently barred, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
21. Force Majeure
Rumi is not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events outside its reasonable control, including acts of nature, fire, flood, earthquake, epidemics, accidents, strikes, war, terrorism, governmental action, failures of common carriers (including internet service and hosting providers), or shortages of transportation, fuel, energy, labor, or materials.
22. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any program terms referenced in Section 5, are the entire agreement between you and Rumi about the Platform. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force, and the unenforceable provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted. Rumi’s failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without Rumi’s prior written consent; Rumi may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. There are no third-party beneficiaries to these Terms. Section headings are for convenience only.
